Henry Bossett began sailing E-Scows at the Manasquan River YC in New Jersey. In college he was named All-American while sailing at the University of Rhode Island, and continued to win the 1980 Olympic Trials in the Tornado Class.

His career in sailmaking began in 1976 with a garage start-up in Awosting, NJ. The business grew over the following 15 years and in 1995 became North Sails New Jersey.

Henry is a three-time world champion in the DN ice boat class as well as NA champ in the M-Scow and Tornado classes. He also has experience sailing larger keelboats and catamarans, with top finishes at Key West Race Week and the Newport NOOD.

Ron LaNeve grew up on the Jersey Shore, and started sailing with his oldest friend, Steve Cruse of North Sails Salem, MA. When they were younger, Ron and Steve would race on Steve’s parents boat on Barnagat Bay.

Ron began working for North Sails in 1985. Currently he focuses primarily on the J/109, J/105, and PHRF classes, in the past Ron has worked extensively with the Mumm 30, J/120, Farr 395, and Tripp 26. In addition to his work as a sailmaker, Ron spends a substantial amount of time coaching and teaching seminars and clinics. He has served as the technical advisor on the Mid-Atlantic PHRF Committee for nearly 20 years.

A veteran of the sailing industry, Ron explains that none of his achievements mean as much to him as watching his customers improve on the racecourse or get more comfortable cruising.

Outside of sailing and coaching, Ron enjoys cycling (whether on the mountain or on the road) and skiing. In the summer you’ll find him at the beach or on the river in the Thousand Islands.
