Brad is currently the Sailing Director of the New York Yacht Club based
in Newport, RI. Prior to moving to his new job in Rhode Island, Brad
had worked as a college sailing coach from 1980 to 2005 at Brown
University and the U.S. Naval Academy.
An avid racer, Brad has been involved in three Olympic campaigns in the
Soling class. In addition, he has served as tactician or helmsman in
numerous national, continental and world championships in a wide
variety of one-designs and offshore boats, including wins in one J-24
and two J-22 World Championships, as well as the 1997 Prince of Wales
US SAILING Match Racing Nationals. He has served as an International
Judge and Umpire, a race officer, and has been a member of the US
SAILING Appeals Committee and the chairman of the Championships
Committee.
Brad recently served as the chief umpire for the 32nd America’s Cup in
Valencia, Spain and was an umpire in New Zealand for at the 2002-2003
Louis Vuitton Cup and America’s Cup. He also was the rules
advisor/coach to the Young America syndicate at the 2000 America’s Cup
and served as the rules advisor to the U.S. Olympic Sailing Team in
Sydney, Australia.
