    X-35

North-Powered Boats Dominate 2009 X-35 Worlds in Kiel, Germany

The 2009 X-35 Worlds was the first Worlds Championship since the introduction of the X-35 class into North's Class Sail Development. This latest addition to the CSD line-up has come about thanks to the tireless efforts and great cooperation between North Sails Denmark - Rasmus Winston Rasmussen and Sofus Pederson, and North Sails in Italy - Alessio Razeto and Stefano Schiaffino. Sharing a wealth of experience and knowledge within this small group of class experts, we were able to agree on consensus designs for each of the sail models within the inventory. The top three boats at the worlds used full North Sails inventories. Alessandro Solerio and crew on Lelagain (ITA-16155) won the World Championship after sailing a very consistent series with a low average score in variable conditions from 6-30 knots. Second was Kimmo Vähätalo and crew on RoXanna (FIN-143), followed by Albert Kooijman and crew on Just4Fun (NED-57). Boats equipped with North sails won six out of ninw races. North's new CSD Mainsail (MN-1) was very fast out of the box and performed great under the wide range of conditions throughout the week. The new CSD Heavy Class Spinnaker (S2-1) performed great from 15-30 TWS.

X-35: In a fleet with some of the world's best sailors you need the worlds best sails.

North Sails' Class Sail Development (CSD) is working harder than ever to serve the X-35. X-35 sails are made with the most advanced materials and manufacturing technology in the industry, and we are constantly working to develop our sails in every way from tuning to manufacture and design...

Jeremy Smart is the X-35 North Sails class representative within the UK and has been involved with the X-35 from the start of the class. Browse through the CSD site and feel free to contact Jeremy with any questions from tuning to class rules and everything in between.
